Whelen 500 Mirror Beam issue (CVPI)

Hi all,

Unfortunately, I have recently discovered that water has accumulated in one of my Mirror Beams (passenger side – blue LED). Rain has seeped through a spot somewhere that didn’t have a good seal. I used double-sided 3M tape as instructed in Whelen's installation guide. I suspect this happened during a recent period of heavy rainfall. Unfortunately, the light now flashes in a weird pattern.

In the first few seconds of activating my lights, everything seems fine and it flashes in the correct synced pattern with my other 500s. However, it then switches over to a weird pattern where it blinks very briefly every 2-3 seconds or so.

I've disassembled the module, drained it of any water/moisture, and tried it again to no avail. My question is whether the mirror beam is still salvageable, and how I would go about fixing this. I would hate to go through the hassle of installing a new one again.

I'm not an expert at upfitting/installing equipment, so apologies for my ignorance. Is this a matter of a shortage of some kind?

As a final note, I'd like to ask for any tips & tricks on getting a very good (waterproof) seal between the cap and the mirror. I'm open to hearing any alternative methods so long as they do the job (if it's stupid but it works, then it's not stupid). I wouldn't want the other one to fail as well.

Thank you for your advice.
